Adjust rack to top position #top position() and preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash and dry produce. Halve, peel, and thinly slice @onion{2%unit}().

Place @flatbreads{4%unit}(), dimpled sides down, on #baking sheet{}. Rub tops with @olive oil{1%tsp}(), season with @salt{} and @black pepper{}. Toast on top rack until golden brown and crisp, ~{5%minutes}. (For 4 servings, divide flatbreads between two baking sheets and toast on top and middle racks, swapping halfway.)

Meanwhile, heat @cooking oil{1%tsp} in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add @Italian chicken sausage mix{18%oz} and onion. Cook, breaking up meat into pieces, until sausage is browned and cooked through and onion is softened, ~{4-6%minutes}.

Once flatbreads are toasted, remove sheet from oven. Carefully flip them dimpled sides up; evenly spread with @marinara sauce{5%oz} and sprinkle with @mozzarella cheese{2%cup}. Top with sausage and onion. Return to top rack and bake until cheese melts and edges are golden brown, ~{5-6%minutes}.

Once flatbreads are done, drizzle with @pesto{8%tbsp} and @balsamic glaze{10%tsp} as desired.

Slice flatbreads as desired. Divide between plates and serve.
